About
the
show:
Students Susan and Larry are guests at the mysterious Brabissant mansion, enticed there by its elderly caretakers. Struck by Susan’s resemblance to the long-dead daughter of the family for whom they work, the couple convinces her to impersonate Veronica…but to what end? This thriller by the author of Rosemary’s Baby explores the thin line between fantasy and reality, madness and murder.
Veronica's Room takes place outside of Boston during the spring in 1973 and 1935. Ages listed below are as defined by the playwrights and may not be entirely reflected in casting.
The Woman - (Believably 35 & 60 in a dual role) One side of her possesses qualities of a charming host, and the other side is stronger, darker, and manipulative. Irish and Boston dialects required.
The Man - (Believably 35 & 60 in a dual role) A loyal relative that’s willing to do whatever it takes to make peace in the family. Irish and Boston dialects required.
The Girl - (20s) A woman of her time, the 1970s; freewheeling, liberated, and upbeat. She takes on the role of Veronica, a young woman from the 1930s, which sends her spiraling into a world of terror.
The Young Man - (20-30s) Not at all who he seems to be. Initially guarded, he takes on darker and more sadistic “roles” as the show progresses.
