The story of what happened to Helen Wilson and its aftermath have impacted Beatrice and the region for more than 30 years. Community Players is collaborating on the creation of an original theatrical production which explores these events. Based on court records, investigative materials, as well as news reports and first hand accounts, this documentary play (written and directed by Cecilia Rubino) is a unique way for the community to understand and reflect on this historic and divisive case from a fresh and collaborative perspective.
The various stages of the play will be filmed by a camera crew as a part of a television documentary series directed by Nanfu Wang. Everyone auditioning must be comfortable with appearing on camera and will be required to sign an appearance release to be in the project.
